Taking Charge from Humble Beginnings, Sheldon Lavin

Sheldon Lavin began working for OSI Group as far back as 1970 when it was still known as Otto & Sons. Before then Sheldon Lavin had a successful career as a investor and executive in the banking industry and owning his own financial consulting firm.

As the CEO of OSI Group Sheldon Lavin oversaw his company grow each year and now OSI Group has around 20,000 employees globally and feels these people are the most important part of business.

Due to this, in 2016 Sheldon Lavin won the Global Visionary Award from India's Vision World Academy, which awards visionaries who made their dreams into reality through perseverance and persistence.

OSI Group also was presented with the Globe Of Honor award in three separate years, 2013, 2015, and 2016 from the British safety council for demonstrating excellent environmental management.

Sheldon Lavin did not just get awards, he was also in charge when OSI Group purchased Baho Foods and Flagship Europe which helped OSO Group grow to the kind of company it is now, which currently operates 60 different facilities in 16 different countries.

Sheldon Lavin was also part of several charitable organizations. He was a board member for both the Goldman Theatre and the Rush University Medical Center which is a not for profit healthcare, education and research enterprise which is based in Chicago. He was also the President and Director for the Sheba Foundation, which is a family charitable foundations that helps Ethiopian Jews assimilate into modern Israeli society. Sheldon Lavin contributed to many charities which include the Inner City Foundation of Chicago, Jewish United Fund, Evans Scholarship Fund, Boys and Girls Club of Chicago, United Negro Fund, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. OSI Group’s Global Expansion Progresses Swiftly

Finally he was a trustee for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, which is a program that serves up to 5.5 million children and their families, has local chapters in more than 64 different countries and has collected up to $300 million in collection boxes.
